Happy Easter!

How do your children receive their Easter treats?

In my family, we have a tradition I grew up with:

Every Easter, the children build a nest for the rooster.

It starts with a pillow as the base. A hat is placed in the middle, and scarves are wrapped around it until it begins to look like a little bird’s nest.

Then the nest is pushed under the bed.And when the children have fallen asleep, the mother opens the window, so the rooster can fly in. Because on this particular night, we like to imagine that the rooster lays paper eggs with candy in them, in the nests.

In the morning, when the children wake up and pull out their nests, they find their surprise!

I’ve always loved this tradition and interestingly, I’ve never met another family who does it this way, but maybe you do?

This year, as I was planning what to put inside the eggs (yes, I’ll admit I have a collaboration with the rooster 😉 ), I started thinking about it in a different, more symbolic way:

What do we place in our own eggs?
If life is an Easter egg that we get to fill, what are you choosing to fill yours with?
